Criticism

I learned that I realized that I respond well to criticism from peers, but I instinctively treat criticism from perceived authority figures as admonishment rather than constructive feedback. Fortunately, someone demonstrated the difference and I see the light. I will strive to improve.

Dan: Hey Derek, you shouldn't have done XYZ.

Bad first instinct: I'm sorry.
Much better reaction: Good point. Thanks for bringing that up.
